- The 1901 $10 Gold Eagle Liberty Head we are offering has incredible mint luster and looks just as good as most mint state condition issues if not better.
- Gold Eagles originated during the early establishment of the United States in 1795. These early issues were not given a denomination yet a weight and purity of mere gold value. It wasn’t until 1838 that the $10 liberty head gold eagle design was introduced. At first this design lacked the motto “In God We Trust” but was given $10 as a face value. In 1866 the coin was redesigned to include this motto & a slight die change. The $10 gold eagle lasted until 1933 when the United States was taken off of the gold standard. Only until recent years (1972) gold was not legal to own as an individual. Now, gold is only bought and sold as bullion investment rather than spendable currency.
