And never clean coins, the only recommended cleaning is silver tarnish dip but even this can cause a coin to lose its original surface quality. If silver coins are particularly dirty, you can soak them in acetone, this may help remove any debris but do not use any material to wipe or scrub the surface. Gold and copper coins shouldn’t be cleaned, as harsh chemicals can remove the thin layer of gold/copper that gives them their distinctive color.
