The Morgan silver dollar is still heralded as one of the most beautiful coins ever minted to this day. In 1918 the US Mint decided to melt down a total of 270,232,722 Morgan silver dollars and possibly early issues due to silver shortages. Melting was done in part to start up new production of silver dollars. Due to this large melting of silver dollars many mintage figures are incorrect.
1895 is not only one of the major key years of the Morgan dollar but also marks the invention of the radio and professional football which we all know extremely well to this day.
