The first Art Deco styles emerged in the early 1900s during the age of industrialization. Art and jewelry imitated machinery by implementing geometric shapes, parallel lines, and symmetrical patterns. Geometric cuts, such as emerald, asscher, and trillion, were commonly used to match the angular designs of Art Deco. Diamond baguettes filled entire pieces of jewelry for sparkling effects. White metals became more popular for their futuristic appeal, so platinum and white gold jewelry is prevalent in Art Deco styles. In the early 20th century, Art Deco represented technological progress, fashion, and luxury. The Deco Period existed from the 1920’s to the 1935’s and today is amongst one of the most popular and sought after period of jewelry.
