COMMENTS: Beautifully crafted of 14k yellow gold, this bangle bracelet features lovely taille d’epargne detail and delicately engraved detail throughout. The top of the bangle features a section of gold with floral center, leaf tracery and a beaded frame. The wonderful detail continues around to the back of the bracelet where whimsical vines connect leaves and flowers. The bracelet hinges open and securely latches with a safety chain for peace of mind. The bracelet is engraved along the inside with the initials “AJO.” Taille d’epargné, sometimes referred to as black enamel tracery, translates from the French literally as “saving cut.” It is a variation of champlevé whereby engraved lines forming a design are incised into the metal and are filled with opaque enamel– usually black – like basse taille enameling but without the subtle depth variations. This technique was often used to decorate bracelets, watch cases, chatelaines and mourning jewelry. Circa Late 1800’s. Pictured as received from a local estate. Excellent estate condition with minimal wear indicative of age.
