COMMENTS: The Galatea Pearl (U.S. Patent #7,062,940) is the world’s only cultured pearl with a colored gemstone center, carved by hand to let the color shine through. Galatea Carved Pearls were first created in the late ’90s when Chi Huynh, founder of Galatea: Jewelry by Artist, accidentally “nicked” a pearl he was preparing for the setting. When an oyster swallows a grain of sand it feels the discomfort, so it begins to ease the pain by applying a coat of nacre (pearl). It is during this healing process that it creates a beautiful pearl. It is rather ironic to think that something so beautiful can be created from so much discomfort. This is like life itself. It is easy to love in good times but it takes courage to love through the discomforts of our lives. The color gem represents the grain of sand and the pearl evokes an aura of courage, love and healing. It is this unique transformation that has given birth to Galatea the Symbol of Love. Interior bead is manufactured from man-made reconstituted turquoise, specially manufactured to Galatea’s specifications for the creation of this pearl. World’s first pearl with colored nucleus.
